What’s next is almost here.

On July 16th at 1PM ET, beehiiv is going live with a look at the future of publishing, audience growth, and digital business.

What started as a newsletter platform has evolved into something much bigger: a place where creators and brands can grow, monetize, and own their audiences without stitching together half the internet to make it work.

The next chapter starts live at the Summer Release Event

Some Thoughts

Morning. The story I want to lead with today is a genuinely big one: a new $500 million coalition just launched to retrain American workers displaced by AI, backed by Amazon, Microsoft, Anthropic and the OpenAI Foundation among others. Whatever you make of the companies involved, the fact that this kind of money is now moving toward the labor side of the AI transition, not just the technology side, says something about where this field is heading. Fifteen opportunities follow, spanning AI safety, AI governance, AI for social good and the organizations doing the unglamorous work of making sure this technology helps more people than it hurts. I always welcome your comments and feedback, just hit reply.

🌍 News & Resources

😄 Joke of the Day

An AI ethics officer, a policy analyst and a machine learning engineer walk into a meeting about responsible AI. Two hours later, they still cannot agree on what "responsible" means, but the meeting notes are impeccably formatted.

🌍 News

A new $500 million coalition just launched to retrain American workers displaced by AI. RAISE US, led by former Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and former Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, brings together Amazon, Microsoft, Anthropic, the OpenAI Foundation and Bank of America to fund state-level job training and placement programs, starting in Arkansas, Connecticut, Maryland and Utah. The same companies backing it have collectively attributed tens of thousands of layoffs to AI, which is precisely the tension the coalition is trying to answer, though past federal retraining programs have a mixed track record.

AI is splitting the job market, and the side that owns judgment is paying more. PwC's 2026 Global AI Jobs Barometer, built on more than a billion job ads, finds roles where people hold the judgment and AI handles the routine are growing faster and paying better than roles AI merely speeds up. For anyone weighing where to build a career in this field, the signal points toward governance, ethics and the human-facing work that does not automate.
